Demon Slayer- The Brother and Sister Complex is Cute and Acceptable.

The bond between Nezuko and me, can’t be severed by anyone!

Tanjiro Kamado

Hello guys!- It’s me, AR Senpai here 🙂 A brother-sister complex can be cringy. Most of the time, the over obsessive behaviour displayed are not considered a societal norm. This was my opinion up until recently. The anime Demon Slayer-written by Koyoharu Gotōge was different. There was something special about Kanjiro and Nezuko. This was something inspirational; a kind act we should perform daily.

We laugh, we fight, we argue. Siblings know how to hit your nerves like no other. Please be sure to hide your toys, change your password on the computer and run your ass off when you make them mad. If you can get along with your siblings, you can expect exponential achievements. At the end of the day, all you have is each other. They know you; you know them. Could you ask for a better team?

The beginning of Demon Slayer was sad. Tanjiro lost everyone in his family to a demon attack. The only survivor was his younger sister Nezuko who was turned into a demon. Regardless of this situation, the siblings are inseparable. Tanjiro has Nezuko’s back, and she has his. Nezuko was the cutest sibling I have ever seen. Younger siblings will often disagree with everything their older siblings tell them. Everyone has his or her own ideas. With Nezuko, she obeys Tanjiro 100%. Both of them have mutual trust, and because of this, they overcome every obstacle.

Tanjiro and Nezuko must find a way to revert the demonification process. This is the most challenging journey that they will have to take as siblings. I was surprised by how genuine the brother-sister complex was. I had fewer reasons to believe this would be any different, yet I was blown away. No nosebleeds, no worships, no stupidity. It was pure, unconditional love.

Its been years since an anime has destroyed the stereotypical brother-sister complex norm. The best example is Guanche and Marie from Black Clover. If you prepare carefully, you can expect to cringe a little less than 10 times during their one-way complex. Another honourable example is Shiro and Sora from No Game No Life. Their brother-sister complex was borderline cringe, but it was nonetheless humorous and enjoyable.

Nezuko has the cutest smile you will ever see from a demon. I just can’t people. Please do not report me for being a lolicon hahaha. There are three words which describe her; cute, refreshing and innocent. You shouldn’t piss her off though, because she will kick your ass! Tanjiro would be as good as dead if it wasn’t for Nezukos help.

I’m trying a new writing style this month, and if it’s boring now, I can assure you it will only get better! Thank you guys for reading my review; I hope you guys enjoyed it 🙂 See you next time!

My Neighbour Totoro

Everybody, try laughing. Then whatever scares you will go away!

Welcome to probably the most beloved childhood anime, My Neighbour Totoro. The big fluffy country-side racoon that sleeps all the time will capture your heart will his big fluffy belly and stubby hands. If you loved watching Spirited Away and love to immerse yourself in the supernaturals, this anime may just be for you 😉

We start off with the Kusakabe family consisting of four members. Two daughters, Mei and Satsuki who are trouble makers from the start of the film. They were hiding from the “police” in the moving truck filled with furnitures. There’s also Tatsuo and Yasuko who are the parents. One has an eccentric personality while the other is as gentle as a feather. Who is who, you can see for yourself lol.

Another honourable mention is Kanta Ōkagi, who is a hardworking farm boy that has a big crush on one of the sisters wink wink. He’s not the sharpest tool in the shed but at least his heart is in the right place. He is always helping out the sisters when they are in trouble.

The new house that the Kusakabe family moves into is supposedly haunted. The first appearance of anything supernatural was the soot spreaders or dust bunnies as the children called them. They had fun having a wild goose chase to capture them, eventually figuring out they were low level spirits made up of soot.

After settling in, Mei was out and about on her adventurous acorn hunt in her backyard. She comes across a mini Totoro which lead her to find an even bigger Totoro. The chase led her to a secret passage which connects her backyard with the big ass tree. She follows the trail leading to the biggest Totoro that we all know and love.

Sleeping soundingly and squashily. Totoro was just a bundle of cuteness. Mei fell asleep on the big guy and eventually woke up in her backyard as Satsuki and her dad were trying to find her.

We discover that their mum is sick at the hospital with an unnamed illness. The kids desperately await for their mother to return home, brimming with hope. Until they get a notice from the hospital that her condition was getting worse and her return had to be postponed 😦

Like many kids, Mei goes off on her own to try find her mother. And she gets lost…… Satsuki asks for the help of Totoro and Catbus to search for her sister. Turns out she wasn’t really that far away lol.

I’m not sure if the was an LSD induced trip or a common Japanese folklore but nonetheless it was very cute and entertaining. Considering this anime was made nearly 20 years ago, the animation, song and storyline are incredibly well done.
